Hi,

Thank you to everyone who posted pictures in this competition. I very much enjoyed looking at them, but in the end it proved very difficult to judge.

Some pictures that deserve a mention must be DaveW's Sulcorebutia tarabucoensis, John Dos's 'little bushfire' and all of Sylvia's lovely photos.

In the end it was a difficult choice between two pictures. The first of these was ChrisL's second picture (a Lobivia?) a lovely photo as always and there was a shimmering flame-like quality to the petals.

But - the winner is LizM with her Echeveria agavoides hybrid. I did say flowers or foliage of flame and it seems to me that the top of the pot shown in the picture could well be an old-fashioned torch with the flames rising above it. A very original interpretation of the subject and a great photograph.

Over to you Liz.

Best wishes,

Sheila

I am amazed that after all those beautiful flower pictures you chose a plant instead. Who am I to argue? Thank you very much for choosing my picture.
The next thing is September's subject. After my posting of 'Spiky little horrors', I thought 'Perfect spines and spikes' could be something original we could have a go at. They do not have to be cactus spines, there are enough sharp succulent plants out there to fulfil the brief.
Obsessive Crassulaceae lover, especially Aeoniums but also grow, Aloes, Agaves, Haworthias and a select number of Cacti.
