September 2015, 'Perfect spines and spikes'

Post by Liz M »

So, here is September's title. I look forward to some picturesque sharp and spiky plants.
Obsessive Crassulaceae lover, especially Aeoniums but also grow, Aloes, Agaves, Haworthias and a select number of Cacti.

If it is spines, then it has to be 'small Opuntias'

Not sure about "perfect" but there are plenty of spines on this mammillaria (for flowers see May's thread)
Mammillaria pseudoperbella
Mammillaria pseudoperbella
Also not sure if the pointed bits on this delosperma count as spines but perhaps they are spikes

Not at all.

I think this is a Weingartia. NOT my plant I hasten to add. Always catches the eye at our branch show.

I too like Gymno. spegazzinii
From Dan and yours just adds to it. Like a little thorn shower. Thanks
It's time to put some serious effort and get some seeds growing.
