I went for the best contrast I could find.
Aloe microstigma, great variation in colour set off by the brown spiky edges pf the leaves.
Aloe somaliensis, good stripes of white against the green
Ferocactus wislezinii broad brown spines, with green body and pale fluffy aerioles
Gymnocalycium speggazini, wonderful brown and cream spines against the green body, a winner for me
Gymnocalycium, more exuberant spines

Finally something a little calmer.
A delightful set of Aeonium 'Sunburst'
Echeveria 'Hoveyii'
Echeveria hybrid of the E agavoides type, showing brilliant contrast of green and red, which should become allover red, once the cold weather sets in.

Then contrast of temperature indoors and (snow) outdoors

I tried to find a fluffy cactus with spiky flowers, but I had to settle for a spiky plant with soft flowers
