In honour of the season that used to be cold, this month's topic is Winter Wonders. Here are some of my winter wonders, flowering madly many months ago - Dudleyas:

Mike: Both on humour and literal interpretation of the brief, your two photos deserve credit!

Well, there have been quite a few Agave threads on the forum recently, so cashing in on that perhaps? The 2 parryi plants I left outside didn't appreciate winter in the open, both losing their roots - so not sure if they really class as winter wonders. Both did re-root successfully, but are now put under the cold frame cover for the winter (the cold frame has its 2 sides open for ventilation), and seem to much prefer this approach. The filifera was planted out in 2004, and has taken everything that Sheffield's Pennine winters have thrown at it in that time. Looks OK, but hasn't grown much - that probably reflects as much on recent summers. It doesn't have as many of the white leaf threads as the parent plant that it's an offset from, I presume they come off in the rain/wind. Must try feeding it this year - might help it grow.

I don't have much in flower at the moment, these are the best of what I have.

Buds on Echeveria mexicana.

I believe this is a cross between Crassula falcata and Crassula ovata, I like the pink flowers, which are quite large for a Crassula.

An unknown Crassula, the flowers are minute, the whole head 1-2 cms across.
