August topic for photography is Plants and their flowers. There have been plenty of flowers on the Forum recently, so why not put some of them in the photography section, this month?

Plant far too scruffy to photograph but it has just produced one nice flower, processed into B&W for a group on flickr, but the flower is white anyway so not much lost
I did see a few buds in the greenhouse so might submit more later this month (or find some old photos)

I didn't think to take nice photographs of these away from the rest of the plants and without labels but some of these flowers are just stunning.

Might have to try for a triptych as the detail of the leaves is not very clear on this diptych.

Hi,
It was difficult to know what to choose, but in the end I went for these four.

Looks like the plant is winning in this one.

I have been waiting for this to open, and it just made it with one day to go.
- Leuchtenbergia principis v2
My very first Leuchtenbergia principis flower.
- Leuchtenbergia principis v1
Since the bud started developing I have had the 3 1/2 inch pot standing in an under pot of water following advise from various threads, hence the 'tide mark' on the pot.

Always special when small opuntias flower. Here is Cumulopuntia rossiana on 12th August, with its first lustrous flower of the summer (it had already flowered in the spring) and many more buds awaiting to open.
