'Cacti and succulents in the rain' is the title and today looks to be a good day to start, as it is raining here in the north-west.

As no one has posted yet and there has been more rain than we need recently, I thought I would give some encouragement to you. So, here are my examples, no cacti, sorry, the one I tried did not come out as I hoped.

I tried taking photos the other day when it was raining and my plants don't seem to get rained on attractively.

You could always cheat like the professional photographers do Kathy, they use a mist spray instead of waiting for rain. I don't know if it would affect plants, but they also use Glycerine instead of water since it refracts light better! Also they sometimes use a water dropper and individually place the drops where they want them.

It can even be done without any water at all using post processing software like Photoshop to create water drops, since professionals do not always have time to wait for rain, or be able to photograph the same plant again.

However they are doing it for commercial gain, we are supposedly doing it honestly. Here are a few links on the subject.

You can also use a star filter on the lens to give that star effect reflected off the raindrop.

Since only Ali Baba put in a photo of Aeonium hierrense in the rain, I have no hesitation in handing October's competition to him. Good luck Alan!
