January 2018 - Winter Blues

Postby rodsmith » Tue Jan 02, 2018 8:31 am

The title is deliberately ambiguous. I'll leave it to your fertile imaginations to come up with some scintillating photos.

Slow start to the New Year, Rod

Here are a few shades of blue:
Echeverias are always a good option for blue, E. amoena
Ech amoena.JPG
and E. tolimanensis x pulidonis hybrid
Ech toli X puli.JPG

Agaves are also good for blue, I don't know which this one is

If it's winter here, it's summer in the southern hemisphere, just right for Puya bertoniana

Here's my winter blues, courtesy of Eleanor. Don't think I'll win any competitions... note to self - buy bigger ground stakes :)

There is a distinct shortage of entries so far. Only 10 days to go!

Well here goes - my first entry into the photo comp!!!

I have a limited collection of plants about 30 but steadily growing and the three images below are the only three plants which on a good day and if the light is good and I don't have my contact lenses in there is a hint of blue and of course it is winter - the brief is met

The three images are Graptopetalum, Echivera and an Aeonium.
