As my intro, I live in London but have a collection of, mostly , cacti that I left with my father in Yorkshire when I came down south almost thirty years ago. Six weeks ago I bought this 8x10 on a well known auction site. It now sits on an insulated DPC'd slab and looks like this with part built wooden staging. And tomorrow (Saturday) morning I am driving 'Up North' to collect some of my plants, the van is fueled up and loaded with a mottly collection of boxes and trays.

Hope the move goes well I am doing the same thing this weekend moving plants to the new greenhouse

I am back in London with a van packed with plants, I must take some photos in the morning before unpacking.
Due to the last couple of years of almost total neglect some of them were dead, some of them will need a lot of TLC, and others look much healthier and are a testament to the plants' survival tactics.
Lots of re-potting to be done over the winter and then try to slowly wake them from their slumber.

One week in their new home and about a quarter of them have been repotted as I thought they are all in a peat /gravel mix, the rest will be repotted over the winter.
Here are two long shots. This is about two thirds of the collection, the rest are going to be a bit more difficult to move as they are mostly larger Opuntia, Euphorbia and various other thugs, I will be collecting them next weekend.

Projects for this week include auto vents for the roof and sort out heating and light, there are outdoor sockets by the BBQ so it may have to run off an extension from there for a while.

The only two real colour at the moment is yellow.
No lables on these two, and I have not had time to look them up.

Rod, I know it will be a bit tight as they were in a 16ft x 6ft 6, so far they are in the space of a 8ft x 6ft so I have still got the equivalent of 8ft x 4ft to play with.
Anyway I don't need four football sized Echinocactus Grusonii even if they were grown from seed sown by Dad in 1988 just four years after I left for London, that should make some space.

Well it has been eighteen months since I re homed my (Dad's) cacti, many of the cacti are startin to make a recovery and actually look like someone has been looking after them. All the plants were re-potted winter 2013/14 I have suffered a few losses but best not dwell on that.

One of my two Wilcoxia or Echinocereus schmolli, this one still has its tap root and has started to recover, the other sadly only had the remaining husk of a rotted away tap root and has put on very little new growth.
Unknown multi headed Stenocactus, I say unknown because it had three plant labels, all different. You can see last year’s strong new spines the result of re-potting with new compost and growing in good light against the previous set of small under developed spins the result of been pot bound and grown in an almost opaque aged polycarbonate greenhouse.

As the year progresses I will add a few more pictures and comments.
