Hi Dave, you have some lovely plants here, do you keep the Agaves outside in the summer? Look forward to seeing the progress of that flower spike. Thanks for posting.

I don't think you should stumble and fall while working in the greenhouse...

Yes the larger plants spend their time outside from about April to September and it can be quite a challenge moving them in and out.

The parrasana started to flower last summer and then stopped during August. After reading around, it seems that this is normal behavior for parrasana so I'm hoping that it continues in the spring.

I did start to document it here and will continue if there is any movement.

With the mild conditions that we have had (12.8°C Christmas day) some of the aloes have started to flower already.

Hi Dave, thanks for posting this link, your Parrasana is lovely. You are right about the weather, amazingly mild, I have Aloe Haworthioides just coming into flower, as well as the usual Crassulas and some Dudleyas. It helps the winter along.

You love your Agaves, so do I. You appear to have a lot. You are going to need even more room next winter, if they continue to grow, as they will inevitably.
I am surprised your A parrasana is flowering at such a small size, I have a bigger one, with no sign of flowering. what are you doing, for it to flower?

The parrasana is believed to be a compact form and it also offsets like crazy when small. As far as space goes, you can never have enough when growing agaves. The rather large ' not so deformed' difformis should have flowered by now together with the ghiesbreghtii which should have freed up some space.

The soil in our garden is only good for making bricks so planting out is not a straightforward option.
