This one is from Sylvia. It is a hybrid between Gasteria batesiana and Aloe variegata and is called 'Royal Highness'

Now, here's the biggest problem with Gasteria's in cultivation.

I realy dont want to start another row or upset anyone.
But
These plants are very promiscuous!!!

I dont think that Ernies plant of G.brachyphylla v.bayeri is what it says on the tin!
It looks more like excelsa to me????
brachyphylla should remain a distichous plant I think.....

I think you may well be right Rob not only should it be distichous but the leaf shape should be more like the classic ox-tongue shape.

No problem Rob, I am not in a mood for another world war three(The Crassula debate ) I have put that one behind me.

Quite happy to have the matter debated. I agree that one of the main features iof B. Bayeri are obtuse leaves and my plant is certainly not obtuse.
I am happy to point out some time ago while sorting out the greenhouse a lot of the labels got mixed up and perhaps I ought to have got the books out to make sure they went back into the correct pots.

If someone wants to save me time and point out what the plant is exactly I would be very happy.

Richard and Sheena Drane had a magnificent G. excelsa on display at the Taunton Flower Show two years ago and it is definitely one for my wish list. If that is what Ernie's plant is it can only get better. My seeds of G brachyphylla v bayeri came from habitat ('ex Gerhard Marx') so should be true to type. Give them a while and there will be some to swap etc.

Can anyone identify my dark green hybrid plant?

Ernie - if you can reunite the label with the plant a photo would be good.

Thanks Phil. All I have to do now is search the greenhouse for the B. Bayeri and put the correct label in that pot. I have to confess that my 50 plus Gasterias need sorting out and theres more to come shortly.

As well as the name Gasteria rawlinsonii the original label also says Baviaanskloof 95-30 EvJ but so far I've not been able to find that number anywhere
