Peter Cupial-Jones wrote:Maurice - they are definitely a bit more of a challenge compared to 'normal' (what ever that is) cacti. Many need a little extra winter warmth and they are absolute banquet material for mealies of all descriptions. However they are strange and unusual which in my view more than makes up!

Cheers,
That's interesting Peter, because they seem to be the only darn thing in my greenhouse that doesn't suffer from mealies.

You must be growing something even tastier than Stapeliads. I find if there are some mealy-bugs about, you can always depend on finding them on Stapeliads, they act like a magnet.
Obsessive Crassulaceae lover, especially Aeoniums but also grow, Aloes, Agaves, Haworthias and a select number of Cacti.

Hoodia rauschii in flower, it's nice that I have finally flowered these & even better they were seed grown by myself, it's in a 4" pot.

Tavaresia barklyi every time I get this plant to a good size it rots & I have to start again, this is the first flower for this plant.

Finally my little bunch of trichocaulons, I have trouble growing Psedolithos but manage to grow these ok. I have been wondering if the plant on the right is going monstrose, they are very different in shape.

Great plants, Tina! I think my Tavaresia might be a little larger than yours, and I keep checking for a bud, but no joy so far...

I can't/don't/won't (delete as appropriate, dependent on species!) grow these plants, but well done to Tina, Peter, Diane, AnTTun, and Herts Mike (in another thread) and others, for sharing with us some fantastic Stapeliads and their flowers this month. It will soon be September, so hopefully I'll be able to contribute to next month's thread!
