The new growth looks narrower than the previous growth, which suggests that it's a bit etiolated and not getting quite enough light. Where is it growing? is it indoors?

I did notice that the new growth is thinner but it is in a sunny conservatory which is east and south facing, so it gets as much light as I can give it. Probably not as much light as it was used to in a commercial greenhouse (Abbey Brook cactus) and therefore isn't growing as well?

Young Cleistos of the baumannii/horstii or candelilla types often do this when they spring into growth, in my experience even in full light - I wouldn't worry too much unless it persists.
