My salmon-flowered cv is about to open its first flowers. Younger son gave the original plant to me for my birthday, years ago (I repropagate it from cuttings).
And my mother used to grow "Christmas cacti" I had a cutting of one of her plants, with similar flowers to yours, Jim, for many years during which I grew no other C&S.
Ever hopeful, trying to grow plants from arid sunny climates in the UK!
Lithops, Haworthia, Adromischus, other south African succulents including Ceropegia and some Crassula.

Same plant a few days later...
Label (from Dobbies) says Schlumbergera 20+ flowers

I bought this from Dobbies last year - originally there were three stems in the pot but only two have survived but still producing more flowers than the label says

This S. opuntioides flowered spectacularly a couple of years ago and then promptly disintegrated  . Fortunately a few bits survived and the new bunch of rooted stems are just getting big enough to flower. Now seems much happier in deep shade, growing in orchid compost and regular feeding with orchid fertilizer...
