new hybrid registration

Post by Mike_K »

I have been hybridizing Aloe and Gasteria plants for the last 10 years and now I would like to register a new
hybrid. Are there any rules or codes when it comes to naming a new plant? Where can i find a list of existing Aloe/ Gasteria hybrids and their parentage. Does such plant needs to be published to be recognised as a new hybrid. Are there any fees involved in the process?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know of anything specific to Aloe or Gasteria but there is The International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP) https://www.ishs.org/sites/default/file ... rae_18.pdf

Please contact me at editor@bcss.org.uk and I can advise and assist with publishing any new cultivars in the right place.

Best wishes
