Two-in-One Gasteria question

Post by jfabiao »

I received this plant in a lot, as a gift, but it had no name with it. I am assuming this to be Gasteria brachyphylla, but confirmation would be nice (this is question one).

Question two is about the same plant, as it apparently started to divide dichotomously a couple of years ago, and that is now consumated. I have never seen it happen with a Gasteria, but since I don't have a lot of experience with the genus I'm curious as to the "normality" of it.

Any insight on this is very welcome. :)

You can take the boy out of the greenhouse, but you can't take the greenhouse out of the boy!

Hi, have you considered Gasteria disticha?

Thank you. :)
Your comment prompted me to do what I should have done in the first place: look it up in a proper book (in this case, van Jaarsfeld's). It seems that G. brachyphylla is distinguished from G. disticha by the smoothness of the leaves, and mine are indeed smooth. So, G. brachyphylla it is.
Incidentally, no mention is made to dichotomy, so I guess this is a freaky incident (or a freaky plant).
