This plant has a little less wool and dramatic spines. Willy reckoned it was the same species.

Finally a few pretty wild flowers from this site. This is an interesting little thing nestling by a big Parodia maassii for protection.

I love that wooly cactus.... I am sure that if you could comb off the wool and spin it, you could knit yourself the most heavenly soft socks.

After we finished at this spot we went down the hill into the little town of Iturbe itself. We stopped for a while so some people could forage for drinks. There was a rather nice mural on the wall opposite where we parked.
