Some plants were in flower so close ups were in order. This picture shows the buds and wool very nicely.

This plant has a little less wool and dramatic spines. Willy reckoned it was the same species.

Finally a few pretty wild flowers from this site. This is an interesting little thing nestling by a big Parodia maassii for protection.

This looks like a Zephranthes to me but I'm no expert.

Beautiful pics Mike and David, and Mike I hope your health is better now!!

I love that wooly cactus.... I am sure that if you could comb off the wool and spin it, you could knit yourself the most heavenly soft socks.

I love Mike's tile mosaic on the wall.... that would look super in a conservatory.

NB. Anyone failing to provide a sensible name for me to address them will be called, or referred to, as Fred.

After we finished at this spot we went down the hill into the little town of Iturbe itself. We stopped for a while so some people could forage for drinks. There was a rather nice mural on the wall opposite where we parked.

This girl was fascinated with our van. Eventually she was rewarded with some sweets by Louis.

We then drove a few km the other side of the village to a second stop. This is what the scenery looked like.
