Next stop was a place called Sul Pampa, about 30min further along the dirt road. There were some nicer looking plants of Austrocylindropuntia weingartiana here. This plant was about 6" high

This plant is in bud. Apparently the flowers are quite attractive, but we couldn't find a plant in flower.

BTW Looked at those Rebutias again with John Pilbeam's book to hand and I wonder if they could possibly be Rebutia euanthema? Typically the flowers are more reddish, but the body looks right.

Also at Sul Pampa was this very attractive Trichocereus, Trichocereus tarijensis v. poco. This plant was quite short as its name suggests, very upright and clumping slowly from the base, not branching.

Dotted across the hillside they made a most attractive sight. Most plants were about 4-5ft tall.

By now it was lunch time and we headed back to the main road towards Pumahuasi. En route we saw more of these coloured hills stained with mineral deposits. I am going to post a few pictures because it's really so extraordinary. Apologies for reflections from the van window as these are snatched shots as we passed.
