With a bit of sun and warmer temperatures, Sulcorebutias are coming into flower. I managed to catch a few during a fleeting sunny spell yesterday.
This is S. purpurea HS115A
I've had to wait 6 years from seed for this to flower for the first time - S. jolantana, with wonderful spines, but a little sparing with the flowers. It is a ssp. of the above species.
This is S. frankiana.
This is S. pampagrandensis.
I'll add more when they come into flower.
It's Sulco season!

Re: It's Sulco season!
Yes, my Sulcos. are getting going too. I have a form of Sulcorebutia purpurea labelled ssp. horacekii D-1, presumably a Czech introduction, that has a simply astonishing ring of flowers. I must post a picture of it.

Re: It's Sulco season!
Thanks for posting your sulco shots Diane. They usually put on a good show. I am a bit behind you in the flowering stakes. I've got more buds than usual (is it because of the harsh winter?), but that's all they are at the moment. I will post some of mine, when they decide to put on a show. Graham.

A few more from today...
Sulcorebutia pulchra WR599 Sulcorebutia crispa Sulcorebutia markusii Sulcorebutia augustinii - beautiful neat spination, but really mean with flowers! Maybe life in a pot is too easy for it! and lastly, Sulcorebutia langeri, again not producing many flowers this year.

Re: It's Sulco season!
I'll second the above comment. For me, both are very slow growers.
