Ferocactus ID please

Post by Neil S »

Two Ferocactus I'm not sure of - one "named" and one not.

There was a recent thread which had a very similar Ferocactus to the first one but was a variety of wislizeni with red flowers. Mine has got a few buds on it but probably too late to flower this year and has wonderful long hooked central spines. I was sure mine was townsendianus but its so similar to the other plant, I'm now not sure.
The second plant was purchased from Tenerife Airport a couple of years ago and I can't find a description that matches.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think the same. Pilosus is also stainesii but it has more thin hair-like spines.
