Pterodiscus seeds

Post by arida »

I've a pterodiscus species that's self fertile and it is always setting fruits. When i checked the matured and dried pods, there seeds are well formed. However nothing germinate when i sow them. Do pterodiscus seeds need some form of rest - either for the embryo to form or for some germination inhibitor to breakdown? I recall reading somewhere either from the CSSA journals that these seeds or pods are expose to sun for long periods...on the ground or plant... and awaiting for the next rain.
