Here's an interesting Chamaelobivia hybrid, one of a small imported batch Ralph had on sale late in April.
I wasn't expecting a white flower, and he didn't know what to expect.

Hi Roger,

The ICNCP is not very demanding and most of it is common sense. I'm not the "hybrid police" and It is not for me to tell you what to do!

The problem is that in popular plant groups, the same name gets re-used on different plants and the same plant gets multiple names. Permission of the originator is required. Unless new names are well defined, it becomes impossible for other people to check what is correct in the resulting chaos.

There are no ICRA for cacti as far as I'm aware, but Google says there is one for cactus dahlias! Perhaps there is one for Epicactus hybrids? Anyone can volunteer to keep a name register - it would require access to a good library.

Best wishes,
Derek Tribble

Hi Derek,

These are the genera of cacti (that were) covered by the Epiphyllum Society of America, see:

They still have registration responsibility for the tribe Hylocereeae they released an updated and revises registry last year.
