Post by AllanA »

I just wanted to share this photo of my first flower on one of my Tylecodons. I have been growing them about 3 years.

Interesting. Anagram of Cotyledon?
You can take the boy out of the greenhouse, but you can't take the greenhouse out of the boy!

Indeed, yes. They were Cotyledons until 1978 when this sub-set were renamed as Tylecodons by Tolken.
And new ones have been discovered and described since then, like Tylecodon tribblei, named by EvJ in 1997 in honour of you know who

Allan, can't you hear this poor Tylecodon crying out to be planted upright! It was Plant of the Month last December:

Plenty of my Tylecodons are in flower at the moment. The range of colours is amazing - pink, white, lime green, orange, brown, ... Tylecodon grandiflorus has huge flowers, some have frilly flowers. The flower diversity within one genus is amazing.

I have a few spare cuttings (may or may not be rooted yet), if anyone has anything interesting to swap...

I really like this, such a delicate little flower.
There is always room for more cacti...

Is that dead? How is the flower coming out of a dead stick?
