Greetings
I'm looking for some advice on whether to prune my 5 year old uncarina. Will I spoil it if I take the three legs back to 6 inches from the base? I'd like to think it would bush out - or should I let it continue growing apace?
Thanks
Robert

You might prune it harder than that, it will grow more stems than before even if may take some time. Keep it cool in winter, around 10-15C. In the end it will make a nice kind of bonsai.

Thanks TS - I'll try that. Do you think there's any chance that the discarded stems could be persuaded to root?
Believe me it's not a problem keeping it cool in winter ... Manchester

Hello
As it is around a year since my original posting I thought I'd post an update. Here's the Uncarina around 3 months after the Spring haircut. I'm happy with the result so thanks for the advice.
Regards
Robert

Well done. Did the branches root?

That looks as if it has developed into a well-shaped plant. I, too would be interested whether you got the branches to root. What did you do to try to root them?
Obsessive Crassulaceae lover, especially Aeoniums but also grow, Aloes, Agaves, Haworthias and a select number of Cacti.

Hi Ralph
I didn't try in the end - I should have as I'd be interested to see if it would have developed like the main plant or remained branch-like.
