Lovely flowers Ivan, it's always exciting when any plant flowers for the first time. They are obviously happy with your care!

Nice. Is that really ssp frederici? The colour, shape, and pattern is a lot like ssp dinteri.

It could be, Ian. I got it as labelled L. dinteri C180 and all searches I did showed C180 as ssp frederici. How can it be verified? I would like to get it labelled correctly.iann wrote:Nice. Is that really ssp frederici? The colour, shape, and pattern is a lot like ssp dinteri.
Re: Lithops in flower
This one has a wonderful vanilla fragrance.
Re: Lithops in flower
We had a very dense fog this morning. Kind of like that other London that you know. So I had to wait till just before it burned off and the flower was at the funnel stage to get the best scent. Once it opens wide I imagine the wind takes most of the scent away. I would say it is a slightly different vanilla fragrance than the 'Mickbergensis'. More subtle with a hint of freesia. A very pleasant smell.
I have noticed that there is only a small window of opportunity of about 3 hrs when most if not all lithops flower for me here. It happens each day around 3 pm to 6 pm. And they are open much wider with plenty of warm sunshine. It makes for some very interesting pollination.
