Newbie from West Sussex!

Post by Kerry »

Hi everyone,

I'm kind of doing this the wrong way round lol, I've just written a page asking your help for identification in another forum. So I thought I should introduce myself!

So I started with a small collection of cacti during my college days (lots of neglect and little water) but now I have a small collection including a couple of succulents that I'm very proud of. One of the cacti has grown over a meter tall. I'm very much looking forward to adding some (or a lot!) more to the small collection overtime, but I don't want to buy the usual ones you can pick up at the local garden centre, and this is why I joined the group.

All the best!

Welcome to the Forum Kerry, I'm sure you will find plenty to interest you here and useful advice. As you say, you will find a much better choice and standard of plants at a specialist nursery than at the average Garden Centre, they will probably be cheaper too! Good luck and enjoy!

I'll add my welcome to Juster's. Some of our forum members offer plants for sale, so look out for their posts as it is a good way of picking up unusual plants at reasonable prices. Also you could join the BCSS and attend your local branch meetings. Most branches have plants for sale.

If you want to add to your collection maybe have a look here http://www.brighton.bcss.org.uk/ and get in touch with Tony the Branch secretary
Don't know where you are West Sussex but Tony might be able to help you with where to buy plants (don't know if he still has sales plants)
