Glass / ceramic hole cutting bits with diamond coating will drill a perfect hole with little chance of disaster if you use lots of water to cool as you go. Cheap ones (that are good for at least a dozen holes in glass in my experience) are available from eBay and Amazon in various sizes.

Nice pot indeed Tina but a pity it's got a cactus in it.

Here's one of my latest plantings. I call this a chalice. It's a pot Marjorie and I bought at least 30 years ago from a long forgotten pottery. It has a ring of holes beneath the cup. For scale the whole pot is about 20 cm tall.
The plant is a variegated form of Agave desmetiana.

Re: Nice pots- with plants (No clay/plastic)
Got this lovely pot with plants from relative at Christmas. A Yorkshire stone wall imitation. I love the pot, only snag is no drainage hole. Would I get away with watering lightly at two to three weeks intervals as I am reluctant to risk damaging the pot particularly as it was a gift?
Into all sorts of exotic plants but with only having a conservatory I prefer to buy small young plants and miniature cacti.

Another recent planting. This teapot I've had for at least 5 years and it's only just been planted. For scale this is a large industrial sized teapot that would serve at least a dozen cups. But not any more since there are 4 holes drilled in its base so a functional teapot it is no more. .
The plant, Sedum clavatum, a Mexican species. was chosen because the pale foliage contrasted against the matt black of the pot.
This plant previously lived in a smaller brown teapot, which I smashed with a hammer to remove the solid root ball.

Re: Nice pots- with plants (No clay/plastic)
Hi Osprey watcher, as long as you take care and remember when you last watered is should survive. I grew a few Aloe lauii in a terracotta pot for two years and found on re potting that there were no drainage holes at all. Plants were fine probably as these pots dry out far quicker than plastic. I was lucky though. Cheers
