Hello from north-ish London

Post by MatDz »

Hello Everyone!

I'm Mat, joined BCSS (and MSG) quite recently, mostly because of my moderate collection of plants (a rough stock list below) and aspirations to grow something from seed (yes, the seed banks!).

A rough stock list of my collection:
  • Succulents (mostly growing up like Crassulas 'Buddha's Temple' and pyramidalis or with faceted leaves à la P. compactum and hybrids);
  • Few wannabe bonsai: terribly neglected Ficus retusa, Portulacaria afra and some, rather young, Crassulas ovata;
  • 2 Venus flytraps, which technically aren't mine, but I'm their custodian (some Pinguicula/Butterworts might be coming soon as well);
  • 3 Ikea cacti (see above re. ownership, possible species: Mammillaria elongate, Ferocactus latispinus and Frailea magnifica var. curvispina);
  • My BCSS + MSG batch of seeds; and
  • Very recent addition of 15+ Pleiospilos nelii (green + Royal Flush), which finally convinced me to write this post as I have a couple of questions re. potting and general care, so please expect increased traffic in related parts of the forum!

Welcome MatDz
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
