Oops sorry. I have never seen four pages of responses before to something that I posted on the Forum. The main problem seems to be with uploads of new messages although it sometimes happens elsewhere. I tend to use it in the 08.00 to 10.00 a.m. period.

Just made a post under other plants... including three images which loaded almost as soon as I submitted post, I would say this is normal speed.

Edit this took significantly longer to post so perhaps the problem is related to the amount of data in this forum

Someone on ringing the landline has also cut off our internet a few times (though that may be a different issue, partly solved after speaking to ISP chat).

Zooming yesterday and today and the sound was cutting out quite badly, just like it did with the Society Zoom meetings weeks ago.

A wired connection will help (I realise not practical/possible for mobile devices).
That's a common issue. It often means the ADSL filter is wrongly positioned in the circuit or is at the end of its effective life. Been there .... done that ..... painfully!
Thanks - I've sent an email.

I noticed some thing similar Jim, but it seems to be intermittent.

Friday 20:03 extremely slow load of page https://forum.bcss.org.uk/viewtopic.php ... 18#p299718 at least 20 seconds if not longer

20:06 almost instantaneous download of page https://forum.bcss.org.uk/viewtopic.php ... 18#p299718

So very inconsistent

Page downloads have been occasionally very slow for a week or 2

Hope this helps

But was your browser pulling the page at 20.06 from a local cache, hence it was instantaneous?

No not from cache as I hadn't looked at it before, Tony. I said instantaneous but maybe blisteringly fast might be better - a dramatic change from the previous one.

Keith

PS to eliminate any possibility that my browser pre loads pages in anticipation of use I've tried downloading a page on a machine which hasn't been used to look at the forum before and again a page from a long list of postings was extremely fast even though the machine I was using is not the fastest. It's usually very fast but some .... times ... it .....................................ah time to wake up again!
