Race against time to flower

Being too large for any of the greenhouses now I decided to bed out this Aloe (arborescens?) at the allotment. As you can see it loved the Spring and summer and is now looking to flower......don’t think this is hardy so unless I build it a mini greenhouse I guess it is doomed. Even then would the cold see it off?

It entirely depends upon what sort of winter we have. If it is the same as last year then I imagine it will be fine. These are Ok down to approx -3 or - 5C, maybe a bit lower if kept dry somehow.

It’s been in the unheated greenhouse at the allotment for some years and has been fine but they have been relatively mild recently. I checked again and I could fit it in horizontally under the staging so it might get a reprieve!

In my experience it is not so cold tender. I have them in my greenhouse all winter. DRY :!: :!: :!:

So I think if you can provide a rain shelter and good drainage, it should be fine.

Good luck and keep us posted. >:D<:gl: >:D<:gl:
