Hello
I am 60, French, and live nearby Aix en Provence, south France, and very pleased to join your forum.
I am also registered on the Forum du Cactus Francophone, but I thought it would be good to also get opinions from across the Channel !
I have dived into Cactus and succulent in April 2021, so quite recently, but already have approx 550 species of almost every families, and it has become a real passion.
My plants are all in pots, placed outside in my garden from Mid April to end October, and moved into my dedicated greenhouse during the colder months.
talk to you soon !
French hello !

Bienvenu!
What are the weather extremes like for you that far South? Do you get many winter frosts?

Bienvenu.
Welcome.
That is a fine number of plants.
Do I read correctly that you heat your plants to 7C in winter?

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs. Recently discovered gorgeous Gasteria.

Re: French hello !
@ Edds : Aix en Provence is approx 20 km away from the sea, so it's more continental than a pure méditerranean climate. I regurlaly have -5°C at the end of the night in winter, and more and more 35-38 °C in the summer... Winter frost is guaranteed a couple of days/month from Dec to Feb.
@ El48tel : I warm my greenhouse to min 7°C in the very first days of winter, and then lower this value to 5°C , aftermy plants had time to accomodate a little bit to the cold; and to lower a bit my electricity bill.
Thank you everybody for the replies I already got from you.
