I did think of buying a leather potting apron - until I saw the price. :cry:
Leather welding aprons in various qualities are from £15 upwards on Amazon, I use mine when welding not gardening but I don't see why it would not work. You could even get a leather jacket from a charity shop.

I have leather full arm length motor cycle gauntlets. Limited protection!
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
