It’s Sulcorebutia time!

I posted photos of these three a couple of years ago, but no apologies for doing so again this year. Such super flowers!

Beautiful photos. I don’t grow any sulcos but those small spined clumping varieties are pretty special especially when they’re in flower.
Growing in Nottingham for the past 4 years and recently found my way to a Nottingham branch meeting. A few plants on a windowsill has very quickly turned into a greenhouse full!

Attempting to grow a range of turbinicarpus, coryphantha, escobaria and several other cactus genera. Tylecodons, pelargoniums and conophytums keep me occupied in the winter and an ever expanding number of gasteria live under the bench.

Fantastic displays Diane! Well done! My (tiny) Sulcos are still just buds.

That's a lovely burst of flowers on the roberto-vasquezii.

I've been trying to grow it from seed for four years or more, with no germination from different suppliers. With plenty of germination all round it, so I suspect bad seed.
So I finally bit the bullet last year and bought two, one white, one pink.

And guess what? Plenty of germination this year......

Very enjoyable Diane, thanks! Today I had my first Sulco flowers for the year, they're always lovely to see.

Lovely - so nice to see these again in full glory! I have some S. jolantana seedlings coming along, I hope they will grow into a nice plant like yours, Diane. For flowers, my Sulcos are quite a bit behind this year...

Nice plants Diane.

I bought a some a few years ago from one of Nick Gash's offerings on this Forum. They apparently flower best if given a cool winter rest. I remember Brian Fearn in a talk years ago saying after a trip to a warm part of India those there said their Sulco's grew fast but hardly ever flowered since their winters were not cold enough.
