I'd be grateful if someone could explain to me how to do this.
Thanks,

When you're creating a new post, scroll down and click the attachments tab.
Upload the image you want to attach. Then click place inline and it auto-generates the code needed to add the image to your post.

And if it ends up sideways, edit the photo using some sort of freely available software like Irfanview and Reset the EXIF orientation tag.

on my PC can just go to edit, & save as.
Also don't forget there is a preview option so you can check how it looks & put your picture 'in line', gets rid of the funny edge

If you’re taking pictures on your phone take them landscape and they won’t be sideways when you post them.

There seem to be a glitch in the forum software that renders landscape photographs in portrait orientation anyway, when the happens usually editing them (even on the same phone) fixes the issue.Herts Mike wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 6:15 pm If you’re taking pictures on your phone take them landscape and they won’t be sideways when you post them.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.

Re: Inserting Photos into Posts
That only works if the editing software reorganise the pixel data so that the orientation flag is not required, some of the free options I tried didn't do this so forum still posted sideways picture.el48tel wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 8:31 pmYup ... that's the solutionMatDz wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 8:28 pmThere seem to be a glitch in the forum software that renders landscape photographs in portrait orientation anyway, when the happens usually editing them (even on the same phone) fixes the issue.Herts Mike wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 6:15 pm If you’re taking pictures on your phone take them landscape and they won’t be sideways when you post them.
