Hello from the great North

Post by Greenpinky »

Hi everyone,

Been lurking around here for quite some time now and finally mustered enough courage to make my first post. I am from the west coast of Canada and I started my cacti collection just last year, so very much a novice. Been mostly collecting lophophora, ariocarpus, and lithops. But now I’m expanding my horizons to claudex and copiapoa. I hope I can get some good pointers with copiapoa since it was some of my more expensive purchases. Thank you for reading!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Welcome! How are you circumventing the short nights of winter at your latitude? Do you use grow lights? Are you growing indoors or in a greenhouse? Would love to know more about your setup.

I would think his cacti are dormant so don't need the lights.
Some mebers in cold countries keepcati in their cellars in winter.
