Just repotted this big ol' clump. Does anyone else grow this?

Your plant looks unusual for the taxon (spines and epidermis colour). Here is a typical plant south of Fray Jorge NP that we visited last year.

Interesting Nobby, thank you. This plant came from Colin Norton's collection and was labelled as such, although the auction listing for it said haseltoniana which seems more likely regarding colouring. I've also read there is so much variation with coquimbana?

Yes, the range of variation in C. coquimbana forms is quite large. I do not find it easy to identify Copiapoa plants without a label and without concrete information about their origin.
But one thing is pretty certain - they will flower yellow and are all beautiful.

I have this FR504. As I was taking the photo I was thinking what an ugly plant it is! I'd disagree with you, Norbert, that they're all beautiful (in cultivation, at least).
