My Echinopsis 2023

Post by edds »

These are going to be photos of my named hybrids that have flowered this year.
Echinopsis 'Rosie'
Echinopsis 'Rosie'
An Abbey Brook hybrid. Strong multicoloured but not giant flowers.
Echinopsis 'Darley Apricot'
Echinopsis 'Darley Apricot'
Another Abbey Brook hybrid. Slightly larger, rounded flowers that lasted a couple of days.
X Trichopsis 'Poppy'
X Trichopsis 'Poppy'
Yet another Abbey Brook plant! Big columnar plant with 12.5cm flowers.
Echinopsis 'Romance'
Echinopsis 'Romance'
Schick hybrid. 11cm flowers.
Echinopsis Razzle Dazzle Group Picotee 2
Echinopsis Razzle Dazzle Group Picotee 2
Southfields plant from their Razzle Dazzle seed strain.
I have too many of these so have given each their own moniker (such as Picotee 2) to distinguish them when making crosses.
Echinopsis 'Flamboyant Floozy'
Echinopsis 'Flamboyant Floozy'
Great name but I don't know much about its origin.

Excellent
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I rather like "Poppy" - nice colour gradations within the petals.

Thanks both. 'Poppy' is lovely but a big chunky plant! Another one I hope might enjoy being planted out along with Flying Saucer at some point!

Today, Romance and Rosie are flowering again, Flamboyant Floozy is still going strong and these new ones are flowering.
NOT Darley Leopard
NOT Darley Leopard
Purchased as Darley Leopard but flower is the wrong coloured and doesn't have the spotted floral tube. Still nice and my wife always says how much she likes the shape when it flowers so it's not going anywhere or I'd be in (more) trouble.
Darley Pinwheel
Darley Pinwheel
Small flowers (7cm) that have taken an age to open but pretty enough flowers.
Razzle Dazzle Group Picotee 3
Razzle Dazzle Group Picotee 3
The second of these to flower this year. All slightly different. Another is flowering now that is much more pinky/purple in the centre but a slug has nibbled the flower.
