Polycrub

Post by Nick_G »

Here's my Polycrub finally finished in my garden in Shetland. 8m X 4m. A plantiecrub is a traditional stone enclosure in which crops are grown here in Shetland, principally Kale, hence Polycrub for a polycarbonate tunnel.

The last photo is a view from Fitful Head over from left to right St Ninians Isle, Spiggie Loch and far right Brow Loch. Our house is on the far side of Brow Loch.

Bendy it is 😀. It took 2 very experienced contractors 7 days to complete. I've erected a few greenhouses over the years but this was beyond me at my age. The kit is supplied by a company in the north of the island. The hoops are recycled from the salmon farm industry. There are plenty of Polycrubs dotted around the island, greenhouses wouldn't last too long up here I wouldn't think. One thing about Shetland is that it's very windy.

Great build and certainly looks solid. I was about to ask what the hoops were but saw the answer in your post. How thick is the polycarb?
