Trying to find a book on cacti

Post by Greenlarry »

I wonder if anyone can help me with a book search. Years ago I borrowed an excellent book from the library; it was an encyclopedia of cacti, about A5 in size, and rather than being a 'How to grow' guide it was about the plants themselves, the cactaceae family, with sections on how they grow, their environment and life processes, in depth and quite fascinating. Unfortunately I can't remember the author.

Go back to the same library, look for 'cacti' and check every book they have on the subject. I don't think there are a huge amount of books to go through.

I can't, I don't live in the area anymore. I moved 200 miles up north. And I very much doubt it would still be there!

I doubt they have any books on cacti at all!
Can't think what your book could be though.

From your description I wonder if it was Barthlott's book with the simple title "Cacti" published in 1979 - it is the only one I can think of that size and at the time quite widely available which covers a wider range of aspects of cacti than others.

Hope that helps
