Just got a supposed email from Bill Darbon but look at the sender's email -William Darbon . <dr.ely@btinternet.com>

Do they just pick names that would have our contacts, I'll call him in case he's been hacked again but last time he had to buy a new PC.
Shame these scammers don't put their minds to honest work using their skills.
Hi,

I'm unable to speak over the phone due to serious throat pain caused by laryngitis.

I hope this note finds you well? I need a quick Favour from you.
best regards

Don't know who your email provider is, but they should have a report system. I'd report it as a scam.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I had that one as well but when I clicked on it the Apple email app immediately moved it to the junk folder. I now tend to check the actual email address for any oddly worded message. To be honest this one is new to me and very funny.

Me too - my system marked it as spam and, yes, I always look at the actual email address, because I do get many real emails from Bill in his various roles.

This isn't BCSS specific (though it does seem to happen a lot).

It is just one of those things that happens from time to time. Usually the spam filters get it, but occasionally they don't.

They just need blocking and deleting.

Telling the person "who it is from" won't help as there is nothing they can do about it.

Probably haven’t hacked his account, as it that case the email would be from his account. They tend to trawl through websites looking for email addresses, then look for associated ones on the same site. They then select what they consider the senior account, for example CEO or chairperson, then send ‘can you do me a favour?’ to the other accounts they’ve found.
