Ignore the sparkly foliage, that's from a different plant.

Drosanthemum hispidum. Sparkly iceplant leaves and thin hairy stems forming a fair-sized shrub. It should have large pink flowers but I don't see buds yet.

Re: Lampranthus spectabilis
The first buds of my D.hispidum opened yesterday. I wouldn't say they were anyway near a match for the size of the Lampranthus flowers. They are pretty though!
Especially interested in Mesembs. small Aloes and South African miniatures and bulbs.

Hi Ian,
Wow - that Lampranthus is gorgeous; far, far superior to all these flowering cacti that have appeared here lately.;)

I always aim to please, Colin
How big is your Drosanthemum, Brian? I wonder if my fast-growing but still young plants are just not big enough to flower yet.

Re: Lampranthus spectabilis
Hi Ian,
It is around the 7" tall mark. It is now ( for the last month) growing in a 6" clay pot. It came from BCSS seed sown in 2002 - but it was bonsai'd for it's first 3yrs in it's sowing pot. Between then and now it has been in a 2.75" pot and it flowered last year
