Re: Dont be shy
How long did it take you to detatch yourself from the plant afterwards Chris ?
Re: Dont be shy
nothing wrong with a nice Euphorbia
Why oh why call it horrida though wouldnt sweetie have been so much nicer
I think Im going to go on a re-naming campaign, wait its being done by scientists far better than I!!
I have found in general though that the thorns of forbys dont grab you quite so much as say an opuntia.

Hi Joy,
horrida is not ugly, but it means spiny in Latin. So it is spiny Euphorbia, not ugly Euphorbia
Cheers,
Marlon.

What's the big-leaved fellow Bruce? Doesn't look like it would grow in this country?

Re: Dont be shy
Hi Sueblu,
I'm no expert at IDing agaves from flowers because , as I've said, I've never yet flowered a single agave myself.
However, thanks for the close up of the flowers of your plant. This doesn't look at all right for A. schidigera. It seems closer to A. parviflora to me, but the flowers aren't right for that either, since this species should have yellow flowers!
Your plant may be a hybrid such as A. xleopoldii.
We need help here, please, Agavegeoff, who has far more experience at looking at live agave flowers than I do.
Any chance of a closer shot of the rosette please? This is smallish, which hints indeed at A. parviflora, and maybe this speciers is far more variable in flowers than I'm aware of.
