Cambridge Botanic Garden

Post by Victoria »

On the Sunday after the National Show we visited the Botanic Garden in Cambridge, we were lucky to have sunshine and I was really surprised how big and impressive the garden was. I had read previously that they were doing some maintenance on the glasshouses and that some were closed but they really didn't look that bad and the Arid House was newly opened (yeah!). Here are some photos, the whole lot can be seen in my Picasa album.

View towards the glasshouses

Lots of columns, not sure how they will fit when they grow though! There is not much height at the eaves.

There was also a greenhouse devoted to plants of Australia and South Africa.

The tropical house was impressive too.
I really admired this archway with various Gesneriads growing upon it, as I am keen on this family.
