Hi Amante,
Glad you got on in the end, Welcome to the forum.
That would be Francois Thord, John took me there too and I would amend graft every palnt he grows to every Cacti he grows as I am pretty sure he didn't graft the succulents he had downstairs;).

Re: New here
Hi Amante:
Welcome to the forum. I too have been to Malta but a long time ago, it is a lovely island. I used to have next door neighbours who were Maltese and they were a lovely family. Please let us see some pictures of your greenhouses.

Re: New here
Wow. I have been gone for a few hours and I find this full of welcome messages. Thanks. I feel at home already. I will attempt to reply to your queries. I live at Zabbar, a large town to the South east of Malta. I will welcome any oversees member who would like to visit my greenhouses, though they are modest in size.
In our annual show there are some who make a lot of money but I never topped more than £200 from which I have to remove the expenses. This is because people prefer succulents more and I get crazy watching common succulents that grow very easily, sell more, while four year old cacti that I sell for £2 are called expensive. Anyway I get so much needed cash for books, compost, seeds.Thats what I call recycling.
The eye doctor mentioned is Dr.Sammut and is the best grafter that I have ever seen with success rates approaching 100%. I have been grafting a few myself but I graft only the slow growers, variegated, cristates and monstrose cacti.
We have a lot of sun in summer and in winter we do not need to heat up the greenhouse. Somehow, some cacti manage to die in winter because of the high humidity.
Glad to hear from all of you. Will post some pictures when I get the hang of it.

Re: New here
Amante welcome to a great forum. It would be nice to see your set up of greenhouses-cold frames.
