Re: Oh dear...
The same happened to me a while ago. These stocks are tuned for maximum growth, but they have no tolerance for cold! Anyway, i cut off some of the ofsets and re-grafted. Bit of a hassle though!

Re: Oh dear...
Oh deep joy, it`s happened again - i bought 3 from Ikea last week, and brought them straight inside, keeping them in their nice insulated little house, and now one stock has mushed out - time to dust off those Stanley blades!
Quite timely actually, as i have a grafted Ortegocactus that is looking decidely sick too.
The other two red Gymno`s can go into the propagator, and i dare them to rot in there!

Re: Oh dear...
I didn't realise you meant that the stock had gone but the top bit was OK Vicki - time to get hold of an echinopsis or cereus and have a go at grafting

Your Ikea ones may well have been frosted before they reached the shop shelves.

To be fair, I did actually think the whole thing had died and it was only when I got back from yours that I had another look and saw that actually the graft was still ok

Re: Oh dear...
I hope the top half survives, and it's sweet little pups! I guess it can't support itself as it doesn't seem to have any green bits.
Have you grafted before?

Re: Oh dear...
Grafting is easy - except for when it gets to the point where you have to somehow get a rubber band under the pot and over the top plant without dislodging it! Does anyone have any tips for doing that, or alternative methods for holding the two bits together?
