Paul, you should consider yourself extremely lucky that you have had that rate of survival. The majority of the agave, which I had exposed totally to the elements, bit the dust. My young weberi, americana, another sp, and a few others which I had covered with plastic simply could not take this year's cold, certainly the coldest for a while.

The big survivor is the American variegata ... too big to hide in any corner. A few aloes which survived the last two winters simply fell apart, as well as many of my regular garden plants.

It means I will now go back to the old plan of keeping them indoors. I am getting tired of these sad experiments.

Did you keep it outdoors? Then it is not a surprise given the snowfall we had in Cardiff this year.

Yes, this was its third winter outdoors. This year was colder than the 2 before.

My Aloe ferox which was double bubble wrapped seems to have made it and actually looks quite perky now that it has had a drink.
