I started to repot some H. limifolia variegates today & this one surprised me. Unfortunately I did not take a before picture but thought others might still be interested in seeing what go's on below the surface.
In recent years I have potted most of these plants in shallow pots often much bigger (wider) than that of the rosette. This one was in an 8 inch pan before I unpotted it.
This encourages the stolons to develop at the surface rather than at the base of the pot.
The picture shows all the roots/stolons in a tray approx. 22 inches (56cm) long !!!

I have not shown the roots/stolons which are now entangled in a 10 inch pot (shallow pan) covered with gravel where hopefully more will develop. The picture shows those that I potted up seperately.

Careful, Tom! You might be on the slippery slope to conversion!
Phil, wonderful shot of all the stolons. Do you feel that the all-yellow ones will survive on their own roots? I've got one of my own hybrids that has about 5 all-yellow ones, but I'm very doubtful they'd live without mum.

Hi Phil !
Absolute beautiful plants !
I must look to get one of this nishiki-limifolias in my collection:D
I have the same question as Diane, please tell us if the pure yellow ones survive.

Now that's roots! Even shames the luethii parsnip.

I find this very interesting Phil, how long does it take before rosettes from stolons are big enough to pot on? I've not had much luck in growing rosettes from stolons.
Must have a look at my limifolias, and also a H. venosa ssp tessellata "Lady Gray" -I'd love to have more of her.
Dot.

Re: Good Friday...Good Heavens MORE limifolia variegates
As long as soil has good drainage that is the most important factor Ashraf.
No the all yellow ones will die but with this species check the underneath of the leaves as often there is some green to keep them alive....just. The two potted with the all green I am sure will die.
The smaller ones in the group may still develop into nice plants but too early to say.
Dot they take a few years but much longer if left in a deep pot. Unfortunatley I did not take a pic. before unpotting but any of these stolon typeds when repotting benefit from the stolons raised to just below the surface e.g. poking through the gravel then they can develop much quicker.
