Looking through my old photo's today I came accross this one of Aztekium ritteri taken back in 1978. I thought it would be interesting to compare it with the same plant today 31 years and 7 offsets later.

Re: Pelecyphora aselliformis
Here is a similar comparison this time with Pelecyphora aselliformis. The first picture was taken in 1974 and the second of the same plant taken today 35 years later.

Hi Phil
How lovely to have had the plants this long & they are still in beautiful condition.
Th p.asseliformis is fantastic & I love the fluff on the Aztekium a credit to your growing skills.
Do you have many worries with RSM I tend to be paranoiod with my plant & check it often.

Lovely Pelecyphora strobiliformis Mike I've had one for about 35 years but it's only half that size.

Re: Aztekium ritteri
Mike - I have both an an aselliformis and a strobiliformis of about the same age - both bought from Ronald Dale, just down the road from you, in Broxbourne. They both remained solitary until this year, when for some reason they both decided to branch (not from the base). The strobiliformis is producing one branch about half-way up, the aselliformis has decided to do it copiously. I thought it was dying at first: it lost its clean healthy look and the outer skin cracked and began splitting away. Then it produced pups: eight of them, all in one go, with perhaps another two or three just starting. I've been surprised how rapidly they've grown compared with the original plant - particularly as that's been growing normally as well! I'm sorry now I didn't take a picture of it when it was 'dying'. It looked really bad!
