My niece is at Durham. If Covid ever calms down enough, I’ll have to take a trip up to visit her (and this)

Re: 'Places to Visit in the UK'
I might have a few places to add to this thread over the next few weeks if I can sort out photos.
First off I'd say if you're in West Wales then Picton Castle gardens has a nice collection of succulents, conveniently sited near the tea stand (the actual restaurant can be busy but the tea stand tends to be less so). It's a brilliant all round garden where they take advantage of the mild climate to grow all sorts of things out of doors.

We were at Abbotsbury Tropical Gardens in Dorset last month, where it appears cacti can be left out all year..

Re: 'Places to Visit in the UK'
Cornwall is a great place to see some cacti and succulents outside.
I can strongly recommend Falmouth, which feature Queen Mary Gardens, Cliff Rd (which has succulents planted on the path) and Gyllyngdune Gardens.
These gardens feature a lot of Aloes, Agaves, ice plants and a few cacti such as opuntias. I can also recommend the Minack theatre, which also have a lot of succulents, including aeoniums. There are also succulents growing freely on many cliff edges, one notable location is Lizard Point, with the cliffs being blanketed in reds and greens. Lastly, there is Saint Michaels Mount, which has a fascinating Mediterranean climate and a wonderful garden. Probably the highlight of my trip to Cornwall, the garden is lovely laid out with the plants doing very well.

Branch visits. Please list places you think are currently worth a branch trip visit too in 2024 within 2.5 hours drive of Birmingham. (Kent, Cornwall, NE, NW to far unless overnight!)(Or combined). Eg Ive not been to Oxford, Leicester or Cambridge botanic gardens or many years.
Kew, Wisley, NG of Wales are examples of ones wed consider.
Thank you
