had a lovely day at the Banstead Mesemb Show today, so nice to meet up with old friends (especially my mate Sylvia!) with a special mention for Lindsey, ChrisR, and Tom J and not forgetting Susanne, and Tony. There were some super plants on display, and LOTS of nice goodies to buy! Good job I had plenty of dosh!
I took a few random pics of the display plants, so let's start with a beautiful Cono. luckhoffii Karoo Gdn, grown by Terry Smale.
A tray of Conos from the Minuscula Group grown by Derek Tribble
A pot of Cono. burgeri from Terry Smale - super!
A nice plant of Cono. stephanii grown by alice Vanden Bon
A tray of Dinteranthus microspermus ssp. puberulus and D. pole-evansii grown by Terry Smale

Imitaria muirii looks like a beauty. I must say I have not heard of this one before. Does it require any specific care or is the name muirii more misleading than it should...?

Fantastic plants and photos, Diane. I have to admit I can't grow these plants very well at all! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Banstead Mesemb Show
Hi Aiko,
The Imitaria muirii is an alternative/earlier name for Gibbaeum nebrownii and once you know that it becomes an awful lot easier to grow. It is related to Muiria hortensae, but less tricky.
We had a really great day and are looking forward to the next one in two years' time, where it will be I do not know as I have asked that some other members come forward to run the Event next time. If it were to be held at the same venue it would almost run itself.
Those who stayed behind for the lecture delivered by Prof Andy Young were given an absolute treat, a tour de force of his last four trips to South Africa Conophytum hunting in the company of Derek Tribble, Chris Rodgerson, Alice and Alan vanden Bon, the audience was spellbound except when someone's mobile phone rang!
See you at the next Event?
